Dr. Smith grew up in Shelby, NC, received her undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University, and graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984.
Immediately after graduation, she was employed at Boulevard Animal Hospital in Raleigh and then operated her own house call practice for 7 years. She then worked part-time in Durham for several years.
Naturally, Dr. Smith is excited to finally be at “home” in Cary as part of the Kildaire Animal Medical Center team! What Dr. Smith enjoys most about veterinary medicine is being involved in the lives of her patients and their families from their pediatric to “golden” years.
Dr. Smith and her husband, Chuck, have lived in Cary 20 years and have three almost grown children, three dogs and two cats. She enjoys reading and spends much of her free time in volunteer work with her daughters’ volleyball teams and school, her church and an inner-city pre-school.
